Acai is a Brazilian berry from the Amazon area that is one of nature's most comprehensive and healthy foods. The acai berry is laden with antioxidants, anthocyanins, amino acids, essential omegas, fibers and protein. Recent studies from the University of Florida indicate that Acai may even destroy cancer cells: "Brazilian berry destroys cancer cells in lab, UF study shows". Acai berry is a relatively newcomer as a supplement. Acai Juice or puree has been used in beverages in Brazil for years. Acai berries have a very high antioxidant count andare used to help counteract free radicals. This makes it one of the best antioxidant berry drinks with the highest orac values.

Acai fruit is high in essential fatty acids and omegas and contains 10 to 30 times more antioxidants than grapes, blueberries or pomegranates.

The acai berry is a source high in protein, dietary fiber, amino acids, vitamins and minerals. Acai is particularly high in several polyphenols.
Why Acai is so good for us?

Acai is loaded with antioxidants, about 30 times more than red wine. Antioxidants are molecules that may protect cells from damage caused by unstable molecules known as free radicals. Free radical damage may lead to cancer. Antioxidants interact with and stabilize free radicals and may prevent some of the damage free radicals otherwise might cause. Acai also carries lots of fibers, healthy monounsaturated fats, iron and amino acids.

Why Can't I buy the Acai Berries?

The acai berry is about 97-98% seed, and only 2-3% pulp. 24 hours after harvested, the Acai berry already lost most of its nutritional value.
